Running two instances of EQ2 on same computer
Some might tell you it requires a special program. It doesn't. I run two instances on my computer and it works fine. I do not use any programs to do it. Vista coughs about it when I camp one character out, but otherwise it runs perfectly. You need a good computer with a nice amount of RAM. Just alt enter the one instance, start up the other one and alt enter that one too. This way you have them both in windowed mode and can easily click between the two. Remembering which tab is which toon which will save you the hassle of loading the wrong character. How much RAM you need? Well, I and others have noticed an increase in lag since they put the warg beast in the game. The following patch seemed to make it worse. Prior to the warg, I ran the game on high quality without any lag whatsoever. I think it is a combination between the patches and Vista. I have 3 gigs of RAM, a good cpu and SLI videocard 512 MB RAM and I do experience lag at times. Especially at rush hour time at the broker in East Freeport. When I run two instances, I almost always have turned the quality down to decrease lag when running two instances of EQ2. In a non-crowded zone the computer runs fine even with the two programs running, but if it gets a little cramped I turn the graphics down.
